Can You Spot Waldo?

Actually it's Mabel the Moose. It turns out the rangers didn't go through our property but stuck to the road so we went down to where our driveway meets Savory road and waved at them and snapped pics as they went buy. Wished I would have thought to take the Canadian flag down and waved it like a mad Canuck. I am very proud of those guys & gals. On the way back we startled the two moose that inhabit the place. They were crossing the road right in front of us. Were talking "fill the wind shield" big. Three cameras on the dash and this is the best we could do. On our way out, just past our entrance from Savory road, we spotted these beasts up on a hilly meadow contentedly munching on the tips of Saskatoon bushes. Not at all concerned with Xena's barking umbrage in the van. They really are fascinating creatures that look like they were designed by committee - but one that really knew what it was doing. They have an unforgettable bouncing gate and don't have any trouble navigating the little snow we...

Bear With Me

Yesterday on our walk around the North side of the place we came across these bear scratch marks. They are over eight feet high on a poplar near the creek. They are higher than I can reach so that has to be a Grizzley that was passing through. They were fresh marks maybe less than a month old.
