No Sweat

Well actually quite a lot of sweat. Some friends of mine invited me to a traditional sweat lodge ceremony. It really was an amazing and powerful experience. It was the first time I had been to one and I tried not to over analyze it. It is something that will stay with me for quite a while. I have been asked back to another one and look forward to it.

That is cool, you had mentioned that you were invited when we were up. How long does the ceremony take?

The whole thing took about two and half to three hours all told. I tended to lose track of time during the ceremony. There are four "rounds". Red hot rocks are brought in at the start of each round. Then the door is shut so no light whatsoever is in the Lodge.

I haven't been to a sweat in a long time. They used to have them on Friday nights in Deep Cove. It was pretty cool for sure, and an interesting cultural experience.
